My first RR

I've now been the owner of my first RR for almost 4 weeks and although it had to go back into the garage in the first week for a bad oil leak I am loving it. Love the Forum. Full of brilliant and useful information.
Paul.

Thanks for the comments. These are the wheels, don't know exactly what they are but have a receipt from when they were fitted in 2016 which quotes part No LVPLMW0061 and I would say the colour is graphite and they are 20".

First decent long run

Well just got back from a short break and must say I'm pretty pleased.
The other half drove us back from East Midlands Airport to North Yorkshire a journey which is of around 80 miles 90% motorway.
Was astonished when nearly home and she told me the mpg. Ok there were a few stretches of speed limits but amazed all the same for a 4.4 tdv8.
(I know the gauge is probably slightly optimistic, but am quite happy to be getting over 30 mpg on runs of only 20 miles or so also)

One worry I did have about the car previously was the 'low battery start engine' I had been getting when leaving doors open for any length of time. Wasn't sure if it was an indication that the battery was on the way out. So belt and braces and not wanting to get stuck after being parked up for a week took one of my spare boat batteries with me and some jump leads but the battery was fine and no warning present after being parked up for a week.
So I am thinking its more just a case of how it is lit up like a Christmas tree when the interior lights are used so think will upgrade to LED's mentioned on here or is it usually a prelude to the battery failing??

To be honest it really doesn't take much time to flatten the battery down to a point where it will show that message - leave the tailgate or doors open for an hour with all the interior lights on while you clean it will do it.

You can override the interior lights by holding the main light switch above the centre console for 3 seconds or so, this will deactivate the interior lights when the door is open. Current Fleet:-

I'm the same - if I leave the doors open for a long period (as I did last night whilst removing and replacing the TV Tuner in the boot), I get the Low Battery warning.

Having researched on here, that seems fairly common, with many people reporting their cars have happily done that for years and never having any issues starting or running... The sheer number of lights and ECU's running makes them a very power hungry beast. When I was having a key paired the other day, my LR specialist garage commented they always put L322's on a power supply when doing anything to them, as they nearly all give the Low Battery warning if left waiting for too long.

I'm sure I read about a software update to the Battery Monitor (BMS?) ECU that was done at some point 2011ish, but I'm not sure if that solved any/all of these warnings. I'm also tempted to get some interior LED's to try and reduce the current drain.

I've had mine nearly 2 months now, and certainly no issues yet, and I've spent loads of time just sitting in it doing jobs/cleaning, etc., and even after a 2 week break it's never failed to start instantly.
