Td6 l322 gearbox

Help my gearbox goes into trans fail gear monitor 4 fault and gear monitor 5 fault it changes 1 2 3 then won’t go into 4th or 5th what could be wrong
Ok I have just drained the oil from my gearbox it’s the 5 speed gm box the oil is brown
I was expecting to find metal particles in the sump and magnet but nothing only a light paste as I would
Call it on the magnet is there anything I can check to see why it’s not going into 4th and 5th before I remove the box.
