Also, whats the going rate for a 2010 100k plus 5.0 Suoercharged as Ive seen a few here for sub £18k in very good condition? 1992 Defender 90 200 TDI

I think it very much depends on overall condition and service/maintenance history.

I've seen 5.0 S/C's with ~100k miles, but which have been meticulously maintained, had the timing chains/guides done, etc., and are in perfect cosmetic condition go for ~£17-20k.

The lowest 5.0 S/C I've seen advertised is somewhere around £14-15k, and I think those were more like 140k miles, and/or maybe not as well looked after.

For a well maintained 2010 5.0 S/C at around 100k miles, depending on the overall condition and exact specification, somewhere £16-20k doesn't seem too unreasonable to me, unless it's a bit tatty or needs work doing.

As said above, the 5.0SC will put a big smile on your face every time you drive it. MPG is a bit of a killer for around town - expect low teens. Having said that, it is no worse than a 4.2 in that respect. Get onto a motorway and you will easily be into the 20's. The performance is startling for such a big car and it will feel a much more refined car to drive than a 4.2.

That particular car seems ok from the pics but you'd have course have to go and have a look to see the condition for yourself. The price seems about right for the miles and for the condition/service history that they claim but I would also want to look through the service history and see if any items other than regular service items had been replaced. The timing chain guides have already been mentioned and they can be expensive if they need doing in your ownership. Mine were replaced at around 60k miles and the car also needed a new water pump and supercharger bits at around the same time (luckily carried out under warranty by a previous owner).

Annoyingly, warranty work like this does not seem to be documented as part of the normal service history of the car meaning that the person who had the work carried out likely wasn't given a copy of the invoices that the dealers prepare to submit to JLR. In my case, it was only because the previous owner of my car, who had the work carried out is a member on here and he was able to get copies showing exactly what had been carried out. So - definitely worth asking.

I am not trying to put you off and there are very many 5.0sc owners who have not had these problems but I guess it is wise to go in with your eyes wide open. Current Cars:

Ok guys, got a question for you which I am sure has been asked and aswered a few times but...

This 5,0 S/C here has 100k on teh clock comes with an invoice for £5500 from the dealer who is selling for the work done on the timing chains. They claim it was rattling when it came in.

Would I be right in thinking that its pretty unlikely tha I will encounter repeat issues or is it a case that once the work has been done it can just easily happen again or be the onset of other issues?

My understanding is the original guides were at least partly plastic, and didn't last very long before disintegrating. I believe the parts were redesigned somewhere 2012-2013 to have metal guides, which last much better.

So if it's had the later design fitted, I'd expect them to pretty much last for the remaining life of the vehicle.

I haven't yet seen any stories of failures on the post 2012-2013 cars, although I haven't checked all the Jag forums.

Btw the mud flaps can be a bit of a pain to get off as the inner fixing will sometime turn with the screws ! which can depend on how long they've been on. But they will leave holes visible in the rear bumper and lower front wing panel as they are fixed through two different axis ( stupid I think ) so unless your prepared for some body work leave them alone.
I've left mine on even though I think they really spoil the lines of the car. Maybe at a later date money pending I may do something about them. Range rover 4.2 SC 06MY.

I'll second what Paul wrote. The newer guides were made properly and not of chocolate and if fitted properly should not give any more issues. Also, for a bill of that magnitude it seems quite likely that they may have replaced other parts while they were in there - belts/tensioners/idlers perhaps. Not the be all and end all but worth checking as less to worry about in the future. Current Cars:
