Deployable steps - another thing to hate about them

Went to jack the car with my Mercedes Sprinter jack today and it's too tall - or rather the jacking point on the Censored steps is too low Evil or Very Mad

So now I need to buy a new bottle jack <20cm tall Rolling Eyes

At least I didn't need to actually jack the car - the winter wheels can stay on for another week.

That was off road height Shocked More like 15cm at regular height - which maybe closer to the height anyway if the tyre was flat...... good job I didn't bin the scissor jack as I might need it in an emergency Rolling Eyes

Unlike the L322, the L405 steps have a built in jacking points which hang low - and you jack with the steps stowed

I bought a really nice fast action trolley jack from SGS - makes changing wheels a doddle when swopping the 22's over for the AT's. The jacking point for the jack / step interface just isn't suitable for a bottle jack - far too easy to slip off, especially on a loose surface 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

I use a trolley jack at home - just keep the bottle jack in the boot - I guess it can come out now.....

What about deploying the steps and jacking it up then Alistair? Will that not give you enough height?

Too tight to get the jack in Sad the step mechanism blocks most of the slot

Not a problem for at home, but I’d like to have something other than the scissor jack in the car
