viscous fan 06 4.2 SC

read loads of threads but can any definitely confirm for me which way the the fan unscrews 4.2 SC , done the super charger oil, engine oil . filter and plugs today just want to do the serpentine and supercharger belt. Has anyone managed to squeeze them in without removing the fan cowl and all the crap hanging on it. Shocked

It doesn't matter which engine, be it LR, Jaguar, Ford, BMW, et al, it will unscrew in the same direction that the fan usually rotates. Think about it and you'll see why. Ron B. VK2OTC

I think you'll find the ( bmw ) 4.4 has a left hand thread and unscrews clockwise the opposite direction to the fan .
I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong all I want to know is it the same for the 4.2 Question

Wrong.

I have had the fan off my 4.4 M62.

Think about it. It doesn't matter if it's a LH thread or RH thread.

If fan unscrewed in the opposite direction to the rotation of the fan, there is a very high likelihood of the fan undoing in service.

The direction of rotation has to try to tighten the fan, not undo it. Ron B. VK2OTC

its a bit like truck wheel nuts, they undo towards the back [opposite the direction of the wheel rotation], on both near side and off side.. ... - .- -.
