Suspension Fault and Dynamic fault

Hi All,

2010 MY car

I have got a clonk on my front right suspension which I cannot find and may not be related to this but thought I would mention.

In the last few days I have had suspension fault ping up and then the last two days Adaptive dynamic fault too. If I go into the 4x4 screen I can see that the front right wheel is showing as lower than the other three and there is a little red light flashing under this wheel.

The most obvious thing I thought of was the height sensor bracket has snapped but this looks fine. It is being plugged in on Thursday but wondered if anyone had had a similar problem?

I have checked the wires into the top of the strut as per a Wiki post on here but they seem fine - at least at the top as I have not traced further down

Mine has broken 3 times in total, twice on the passenger side and once on the drivers side.
Each time the break has been very close to the exit of the rubber grommet.
If you check the Fault codes on an iid it will tell you which side has failed.

I am working up to doing mine this weekend, but I have found some black plastic tubing to sleeve it.

As per usual I am not so lucky... No broken wires I can see at the top. Before I start chasing around in vain I will get it plugged in

Nino,
I have just had the top off the strut again and removed the plug.
The pins are tiny.
Did you join into the existing wires near the plug or did you find a way of connecting the new wire directly to the plug ?

I think the new silicon covered wire I have bought is too thick. I think I bought 16swg.
Can you say what size you used?

Cheers

,

Mike, I could not figure out how to take pins from the plug, and not having spare one (minimum 2 weeks for delivery)
didn't want to take any chances. i cut wires approximately 1 1/2 cm from the top of the plug and solder new wires with shrink tubing over. i don't know swg of mine wire, it is slightly smaller than original, but with more and finer strands. 16 swg is fine as long as it will fit thru the rubber grumet. Thumbs Up

Thanks Nino,
I also can’t see how to solder directly on to the pins so will do exactly as you have done.
Once again you lead the way 🍷🍷
Cheers

I soldered mine the 1st time and then replaced them with the factory repair kit which just took a few minutes. There are pics of the kit somewhere in this site.
