Tow bar

Hi will a tow bar from a 2004 fit onto a 2011 model? Looking at upgrading car and being tight want to swap over if the new car I find doesn’t have one. Thanks Smile 2004 td6 Zambezi silver

Sorry for the hijack but did Land Rover make more than one type of tow bar for the l322 just mine has what looks like a heavy duty fixed one but it has a combination hitch with a Land Rover plate on it Neutral

The official tow bar is made by Westfalia, you can fit it with either a quick release to ball, or what is commonly know as the farmers hitch which allows you to bolt a regular tow bal at different heights.

Pictures would help Whistle

However, as above, sounds like you have the 'farmers hitch' or drop plate tow bar - if so, it bolts into a 50mm square receiver - and there is another detachable option.

Does it look like this -

So your's is an aftermarket unit made by Witter - and not the 'official' LR one made by Westfalia - there are other manufacturers who make a tow bar that fits a RR also.

The original question was about a hitch from 2004 FFRR like mine.

Mine came with the original removable hitch, which I have been hoping to change to the farmers hitch. On this I was hoping to fit the heavy pin-adjustable height towball assembly that came originally from one of my old 110's.

In Alistair's excellent photo of his farmer's tow hitch, the towball mounting seems far too far back to be able to mount my very industrial and quite large towball assembly.

His is a later vehicle, so my question is whether, on a 2004 vehicle, the hitch plate protrudes far enough to be clear of the back bumper? Old 110 2.3 Petrol ???? - ????

I have seen adjustable hitch mountings fitted to farmers hitch, I think miggit did it and I am pretty sure Sam (L19MUD) did something similar when he borrows my farmers hitch last year.
