I have a 2005 diesel and the computer states I'm getting under 19mpg. Are the on board counters accurate ? |

not always mate. however depending on how you drive that sort of MPG would be achievable in a TD6. I drive pretty steady and average about 22-23mpg. If I were to give it some beans I am sure that would drop below 20. FFRR TD6 HSE

I do a general mix of driving and get something in the region of 25 mpg. Out of curiosity I decided to do a test on my TD6 doing a decent run this weekend. Brimmed my tank and drove from north to south Wales and back. Refilled tank on completion. Drive consisted of town, open road, duel carriageway, motorway etc. And included getting stuck in crawling traffic on a couple of occasions. I wasn't booting the car but I wasn't crawling either. Journey down I averaged 50 mph, journey back about 45 (traffic jams etc). I completed 321 miles and used just under 50 litres. I calculated aprox 29.5 mpg. The computer gave 31 mpg.

Without any box fitted if I drive carefully averaging 55-70 mph along motorways I can get around 40mpg according to the ecu. Could not go faster due to the road widening on the M1 and M25. I think my car might have been remapped in the past.

The fuel computer runs off your "B" trip. To get an accurate reading for a single journey (pre-2010), reset this to ZERO. Post 2010 have a "this trip" setting too which can be quite scary! |
