United Kingdom 2016 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Santorini Black

Just a daft question, but why?

The reason folks run 275/45/20 is that there are more AT tyres available in that size not for the extra width. 274/45 do look a bit more like rubber bands on the rims tho.

I’m not sure you would notice an extra 10mm on the 265/50, so why not just stick with the proper size, there is a pretty decent choice in that size unless you want some off road tyres. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

ah why the width?

I'm a bit embarrassed to say...

Let's just say someone keeps damaging the edges of my rims... err overnight. The kerbing fairy I guess we should call him.

I’ll say it ... 275/45 looks Censored cause it’s a smaller diameter

Makes the wheels look too small in the arch.

Sorry Fisha but I think you are imagining it. The difference is only 0.1” less sidewall not 1” but 0.1”. I very much doubt that anyone can tell the difference visually that 0.1” makes. There are slight variations between makes - but the General AT 275/45/20 is exactly the same diameter as an oem 255/50/20 - I measured them.

And just so you can see the difference look at the pic below.

Fisha I turned right off the 275s when I saw your rubber band comment but now, reading Vogue's view I'm not sure.

If anyone's running 275/45r20s could you pls post us a couple of pics, would be good to see the arch fill. I definitely don't want the rubber band look.

If that size look ok then Paul the Uniroyal RainSports 275/45r20s you're running look very appealing. They meet the spec and are £110 a corner which is an incredible price. Plus they have an integral rim protector for donuts like me. Wait, I mean the kerbing fairy. Whistle Whistle

I know this is wrong to say but I'll say it anyway - they also look pretty cool:

I think Fisha has confused the 275/45 with the 275/40 fitted to the RRS which I agree do look stupid when fitted to a full size RR - trust me the 275/45 look great. 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Looks good but the GG has that chunky cut will be good to see a more road tyre 275 in the arch. Cheers Vogue!!! Cheers, Greg

A couple of photos I had immediately to hand of mine running 275/45r20 road tyres. I'll see if I have any closer pics, or can take something on the way out the house tomorrow morning.

Cheers Paul - at a glance they look very similar overall to my standard 255/50r20s

Agreed - I doubt the minimal real difference in rubber is particularly visible to the average car spotting eye!

Whilst I'm used to having bug chunking MT;s on the Defender, I certainly wouldn't call these small, and I've had no issues with them so far with kerbs, mild off-road tracks and similar - plenty of rubber for those.

To be fair , your probably right in me thinking the rubber bands of the sport ... night shifts at the mo.

But I do think that even stock size looks a little lost in the arches as is , and going smaller in anyway isn’t going to help. V8 or else ...

Not an exact science, photos a bit dark around the arches
but this is Paul's against mine:

Perhaps noticeable here, only a quick test with the photos a bit dark to be able to see properly....

Ireland 2007 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Zermatt Silver

Having fitted 255/55/20 General Grabber AT3's I agree with Fisha's comment. The standard size looks lost in the arch. Also the later wheels from an L405 help as the offset is different and the wheel sits further out. I haven't measured it so don't know exactly how far but it looks way better.
As for the speedo difference, the 255/55 size make it more accurate. It under reads by about 8% on standard tyres. But the biggest benefit is the ride quality. It really floats along now even on crappy Irish roads. 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Zermatt Silver with Charcoal
