Got a westfalia tow bar with no keys, now I know you can order replacements on line, but I don't seem to have the correct code that they require.
Is there anything I can do, short of getting master keys

I have looked on the barrel, but it covered with some black 5hit, so got some thinners out and cleaned it a bit, but can't see anything yet

How good is your eyesight and how well lit is the area ?

I find it easier to take photos & then zoom in for a proper look

As NMJ says - Westfalia should be able to tell you exactly where to look.

Yes number is on the barrel. Just checking, because its happened to many others, but you have checked the key isn't in its slot in the Towbar storage compartment (right hand boot space under the floor cover in the wheel arch? Current Fleet:-

Nicksaab, you was right (didn't even know that compartment was there) keys is in there, and the other one is snapped in the lock, so what are my options
Drill the lock, would this mean the Swan neck is still usable
Or I guess buy a whole new assembly

You can un-bolt the assembly from the receiver and take it out - though may take some effort if it's been there a while.

It's then easier to work with on a bench or take into a locksmith & see if they can get the key out.

I did have a look at that, but don't have a 26mm socket(I think that's what it is)

So might take it down my mates Garage one evening and use his tools

Good to hear! So the next silly question - is the lock actually locked? There are two parts to the towbar lock gin mechanism - the red and green tabs to show its fully latched and then the key to lock it. Its not recommended to not lock it with the key, but its doesn't need to be locked for it to operate safely. The one I would suggest is drilling a tiny pilot hole into the visible part of the key and putting a small self tapping screw into it and try and extract it with pliers. Current Fleet:-

But still can't get the tow bar off
