Dashcam

I would be grateful for opinions on this, I am finally going to get a Dashcam - having read all the reviews I am probably going for a Nextbase unit.

However, today I saw a new BMW with a dashcam which has a Security LED ON/OFF (blue light on the camera that shows it is operational even when in parking mode). Making it pretty obvious to any yobs that they were being filmed

I think this would be quite good as a deterrent - does anyone know which other makes / units have this feature ?? as it seems the Nextbase units don’t.

Many thanks 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Also makes it obvious that if they smash your window there's a nice dash cam to steal......

Black Vue also have this option - Personally I have it on, most thieves would rather not risk being interrupted and having a video left behind.

Thanks Basil, that’s what I thought - plus they don’t know if it’s being transmitted live by 3G/4G like a cctv system 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Mine (BlackVue) uploads to the cloud and issues a text alert during Parking events, which gives me peace of mind.

It needs one of those,I use a MiFI hotspot powered by the car, and at home it picks up my WiFi.

What's the best "small" dash cam and where does it fit on the 2018 RR so the other cameras etc near the rear view mirror don't get obscured by it?

Depends how handy you are - I thought its was fairly straight forward to fit..... Thumbs Up

There's a fusebox behind the glove box - get a piggy back fuse to power from there - and there's a couple of earth points.
The end of the dash by the door pushes out from the inside to feed the cable through - and the pillar by the side of the windscreen - the cover is held on by 1 torx bolt behind the plastic airbag symbol then just push it under the headlining & stick by the rear view mirror.

My god SR, you are having problems!!

Are you getting proper service from your dealer? My dealer was superb on hand over and the chap I dealt with was a real expert. If you need to talk to someone, PM me with a list of your problems and if you wish I'll give you my contact.

My car has been faultless and anything I did have a problem with (because I didn't understand it) my chap dealt with it all over the phone.

It's such a beautiful car, it's a real shame you are having such a bad time! Crying or Very sad

can't complain about service from the Dealer, some of the issues were software related and they were waiting for land rover to sort. and thank you for the offer of another ear to bend.
I now have someone from LR customer relations who is dealing with this and the previous bad experience with MY17 car.
It is said lightning doesn't strike twice well it has with me.
Back on Topic, if do get it back and it doesn't end up has a buy back (another thread on here) I will seriously look at a dash cam.
Steve
