L322 TDV8 MOT/CONTROLE TECHNIQUE EMISSIONS TEST

I am becoming concerned at the increasingly tight limits on diesel emissions as European governments attempt to force older, “more polluting” diesels off the road. I know the UK MOT test specs have recently been tightened and here in France the Contrôle Technique was similarly changed on 22 May.
I have no idea what the new test limits are and how they might relate to the TDV8, but I am very concerned that we TDV8ers might end up with the world’s finest immobile leather armchair home extensions.
Can anyone shed any light as to whether there is cause for concern? If so, is there anything we can do about it?

Whilst I haven’t got an answer to your question, the French weekly motoring magazine AutoPlus regularly runs articles on the current state of play as regards diesels in France and what it means for the motorist. (I’m sure other motoring mags also follow the developing situation.)
If your French is up to it, you may care to have a look. For example, the current issue (No. 1551, d. 25 May) has an article entitled “Diesels interdits en ville – Que risquez-vous vraiment?” (Diesels banned from town centres – a real threat?). The article lists the towns/cities which already have restrictions in place or will shortly be doing so.
In the past they have also run other articles such as, for example, "Is it time to ditch your diesel?" and other articles of that ilk.
That’s not really the answer to your question but while the situation continues to develop perhaps it’d be worthwhile monitoring the specialist press - if you don't already do so.

As it is the result of an European Directive the ct requirements are the same as for the MOT. Depending on your French, if you do a search on "changements de controle technique" you will get a number of hits with the information.

However, if you read the changes to the MOT in English it will be the same. Thumbs Up

As for diesel, I would not get overly exercised at this stage. Remember there approximately twice as many diesels as petrol in France. Can't see them being off the road overnight. Shocked John

Quite a fullfat community in France; great country for it! Razz
I would normally rely on French resistance to expensive change, ie to lose their diesels before they fall to bits, but the Macron régime seems quite determined. . . .
With regard to diesels in towns I have bought Crit’air pastilles for my cars: workhorse and pleasure. The workhorse is a 2011 Euro 5 diesel and that was given a level 2 rating. Much to my surprise the pleasure car, my TDV8, was give a level 3 rating. It is the level 4s and 5s that are liable to be banned on bad pollution days.
However, the ratings were done on paper and not probes up the exhaust.

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Santorini Black

I have just had my MOT on my 3.6 tdv8 and no problems with the new emissions test limits. It did however fail on a front wishbone...and that was only fitted in November last year so that is being fixed under warranty.

I suspect that as long as the car is running smoothly and not blowing smoke then you will still be fine with the limits.
