Remote climate not working

I have only owned my car since spring this year so never had the need to use the remote climate feature until now.
I don’t have a remote key fob to operate it but have the option on the infotainment screen.
I have tried setting it to come on with the timer but nothing ever happens. The temp has been below 5 degrees so that is not the problem. Also the buttons for turning it on manually are greyed out and do not function.
Does anyone know what the problem may be?
It is a 2009 3.6 TDV8 if that matters.

Irrespective of the timed climate, does the FBH fire up when you start the car in cold weather and the engine is cold?

It will come on automatically then to help warm the coolant faster. If it’s not doing that, you prob need to get the fault codes read I’m afraid.

You should hear the FBH fire up… it’s sort of under the battery and it’s exhaust is behind the front wheel, near where the mud flap would go.

+1 with MJD.

I wonder if the manual on/off is the same as mine (2011). They greyed out buttons show up when you turn on the audio from the centre of the dash button. Don't turn on the "ignition".

Thanks for the advice. I haven’t ever noticed the FBH firing up but will look out for it starting next time it is cold enough. I have an iid tool so can read the codes and see what shows up. I’ll report back later if the temp drops enough.

Also it won't come on via the fob or the program if the battery is not in good shape and the voltage has dropped. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Yeah, There are a few things that stop timed climate not working, but if it doesn’t come on when the car is started when it’s cold, it will never come on with timed climate.

Grandmother and eggs and teaching but

Perhaps the FBH is locked out.

Have a good read of the FBH info in the Wiki. As I understand it, should the unit faii to start it will log a fail each time until it reaches a count of three and then lock out. Each time it starts successfully it reduces that count by one. The reset procedure is in the info. You may also have to do a hard battery reset.

As above with the possibility of the FBH being locked out . But as you have an iid you will be able to check for this. you will probably also have to remove and refit the fbh fuse to clear the fault. All this is irrelevant if the fbh hasnt been activated in the CCF files.. again, you can check this with iid. also there needs to be at least a quarter of a tank of fuel for it to fire up.
