Tyre slashed

Last night the alarm went off in the early hours, luckily I didn't charge straight out...stopped myself at the front door. Made sure the car was locked and put it down to just 'one of those things'.

This morning went to take the kids to swimming club and noticed the totally flat tyre. Foot pump and then the compressor wouldn't touch it. Took it to the garage and, when inflated with an air line the knife cut through the side wall was clear. Plod have just been and said they often do this to see if the alarm has the tilt setting enabled, as a check before lifting the car and taking it.

Glad I didn't run out into the arms of the car thieves with my keys last night.

Serves me right for laughing at top gear last weekend I suppose Sad

That's a pain, but as you say - could have been worse!

The tilt sensor is very sensitive, it detects about an inch of change. If you have the TPMS system this also integrates with the alarm to warn of a slashed tyre if the tilt sensor doesnt catch it.
