Height sensor according to IID tool

So I’ve finally worked out what sensor is playing up. For weeks I got “articulation relay fault” which didn’t really tell me anything. Now, I’m getting “front left height sensor”
The car keeps rising and rising and I have to kill the engine to stop it. I can play around with the “test valves” setting and get the car to sit at the right height and it will stay like that for a while
My question is- how do I determine whether it’s the sensor or the wiring to it? The sensor doesn’t come with the wiring so I might go and buy a sensor for £50 and find it’s not that.
Any help is welcome chaps!

I have just change my height sensor and I can confirm it doesn't come with the wiring. Also I was advised to buy a genuine sensor as I had an aftermarket fail after just 9 months.

Try swapping sensor to the other side

They’re handed though aren’t they?

There is a procedure for testing the sensors in the workshop manual. Essentially put 5V across the sensor and measure the output. There should be a fairly linear change in output from about 4.5V down to 0.5V across the range -140mm to +180mm.

PP216 in the version I have in the section Vehicle Dynamic Suspension -> Height Sensors

I'd post an image here but not sure if that's frowned upon... 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Relevant pins for the front left sensor are (if I'm reading the diagram right)

Pin 1: +5V (Grey / Brown)
Pin 2: N/C
Pin 3: N/C
Pin 4: Out (Grey / White)
Pin 5: GND (Grey / Black)
Pin 6: N/C 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

So only three pins in use then. I’ll have a look at it and see if there’s anything obvious

I’ve found a break in one of the wires to the sensor. I’ve soldered it and the fault cleared. However, when I drove it, the suspension went skywards at the front again. However, no errors on the dash and IID can’t find any faults. It’s getting on my nerves now
What else could it be?

The venting exhaust on the compressor can block up.. the car keeping rising can be a sign of this if It can’t vent

What do the live values for the height sensors look like? And same goes for the gallery pressure. If it's not venting you may be able to see it in the live values. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Ive had some fun and games with it today. First of all I checked the valves in the “test valves” section and all four corner seems to rise and fall but the n/s/R air suspension wouldn’t inflate after a while. At first I thought it was that causing the issues so I jacked the car up to help it a little and I heard the compressor start running. I then got it to a sensible height and turned off the ignition. A few minutes later with the car off and locked, the front end had risen up to past off road height again!
I then went into height adjust and took 50mm off but nothing happened. I then went into off-road height and took 50mm off and down it came. Car levelled out perfectly.
Drove it to work and by the time I’d got there, it’s at access height!
So I’m still no wiser!
