Low cost digital tv upgrade

After looking around on various forums for a digital tv upgrade and not finding much info on a low cost unit ,I decided to have a go myself.
I got a AV input interface lead from In car music on ebay ,with an extra input so I can try to put a reversing camera on in the future. (£44.94)
Then I got a car digital DVB-T Tv receiver box ,ebay again (£54.99) postage was a bit higher for me, others will get it cheaper. This one has one aerial with it (some have 2 but cost alot more) and a extra ir cable so I can use the remote control in the front.
The main problem was finding a 12v power to it , I found the right wire with a drawing of blue connector from another forum rangerovers.net . It is the green/red wire going into connector 1
So I pulled out fuse 8 and 49 then cut the wire and joined in a piggy back connection ,then put the earth to body above.
I had a worrying moment (well a whole night ) I lost the picture on the tv screen , I thought I had blown something ,but it turned out to be the blue connecter was loose.
So I now have Digital tv and radio at a low cost . 2004 Range Rover Vogue TD6

Exellent need to get this done to my 2002 before the analogue goes of.

Do you have more details I.e where to buy parts and exactly what's involved in wiring

How is the picture with the aerial? I had to buy a Bosch one for the freeview in the Mini and that was £80, gets a good picture everywhere and loads of channels, the one I got with the freeview box only found a couple. 2006 Mercedes CLS

I would do this except having an extra remote really doesn't apeal to me at all. I would much rather go for the Hybrid tuner that replaces the analog tuner.

But the point of the post was low cost, so the BMW hybrid isnt an option if you take the low cost route. Reformed

That depends on an indivduals definition of "Low Cost" Rolling Eyes

I bought my BMW Hybrid TV Tuner for £320 and sold my old LR analogue tuner for £250 and if my maths are correct thats a very nice "low cost" of £70 Whistle

It's all a question of timing Wink 2015 L405 SDV8 Autobiography, Indus Silver with Black Pack.

Here are links to where I got parts and info from
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...SA:GB:1123
Check for other tuners on ebay, some have the cigar plug on the end this one did not .

http://incarmusic.co.uk/product/574-64/AVR...Bus-System

Check you have the right lead here their are some with the reverse camera option. You take out the white plug on your tuner put this lead in then put the white plug of your tuner back into the end of this lead.

http://www.kb97.co.uk/satnav/pdf/bmw-tv-tuner.gif

The wire going into pin 1 on the blue connector (12v) this is where I joined the new red wire in just outside the connector .

No guarantee that what I did is the right way to go about it , but it worked for me .
Check that you put the TV box off with the remote when you lock the car.

If anyone knows of a better way to wire the power in could you let me know.

I have 2 photo's of it but dont know how to load them to this site. 2004 Range Rover Vogue TD6
