Electrical Towing Preparation

It's time for a change maybe, I've been looking for a L405 Range Rover with a deployable towbar there are some but not a lot, however there are loads that say "Electrical Towing Preparation" but what is that? and could it make it easier to fit an aftermarket towbar (it doesn't have to be deployable). Geoff

My understanding is that the wiring is in place to allow sockets etc to be fitted easily, presumably by plugging in a connector.

The non-deployable LR towbar is much cheaper to retrofit and is, I think, more robust than the deployable one, plus there is less to go wrong and it is very quick and easy to remove and replace, better than the 322 unit with no moving parts to seize up. Only Range Rovers since 1988

well..... the L405 removable is basically the same as the L322 farmers / drop hitch

I never really saw the point of the other one as it left too much on display - the drop hitch with a pin is a much cleaner installation, albeit there is nowhere in the boot to store the removable bit.

The L405 removable does suffer the same issue as the L322 with a pin did - the unit is slightly loose & rattles - though Red Merle has found a solution to that.

I've had most combinations over the years and I'm very happy with deployable Cool

I have just had a deployable fitted by LR and it costs £2688 for a 17MY and a further £56 for previous MY's as they need a replacement tow eye cover. I managed to get a deal as part of the purchase of the car but they're not very good at discounts!
