The Mysteries of iphone integration/docking

Another pair of Land Rover riddles for your pontification;

1) the new iphone integration allows bluetooth synchronisation of the phones contacts.
However I see only a small, and random, subset of this (i considered that maybe I had numbers saved on sim/phone - but this is not the case- I also thought that maybe there was a ltd amount of memory assigned to this function. but it is too random in those that it does see).
For example, most of the people i tend to call regularly, do not show when doing an alphabetical search. But, if i browse the recently dialed or received call section, I see these people, by name, and can redial. So essentially not a problem, as long as I do not want to ever search for a number using the touch screen of someone i have not recently interacted with.

anyone else seeing this, or got a solution?
Not surprisingly the dealer is clueless (other than to keep repeating " your phone is 100% compatible according to LR website" ).

2) the centre console/storage/armrest houses the iphone/ipod power/data cable.
this is in the bottom section, and a bit of a pain to get at (not that one would ever want to look at phone whilst driving of course Whistle ).
Below the mat in the next picture is a "punch out" section.

which enables the cable to run through to the top section, that is more accessible and conveniently phone shaped, as in this picture

the dealer assures me that there is no way to mount the phone in the upper section of the arm rest (despite this punch out existing and the fact that i am sure I have seen a picture with a phone mounted here.

In addition i found this picture in the current brochure, which clearly shows the iphone in some kind of holder (not just rolling around in the lower section), again the dealer has no clue how this was achieved (levitating iphone??)

Have you looked in Microcat to see what cubby box options there are?

Hi Gerry,
I assume you meant this?

This is not a dealer option. This is a custom job I did for a friend about a year back in a 2010. It consists of a modified BMW iPhone cradle, a modified RR iPhone/Aux port and the wiring. I could do another, I suppose... I'd have to check on the prices of the bits. Can't remember off the top of my head (I suffer from CRS). Guessing, roughly GBP250. The wiring was all hidden, BTW. Silly to have a squiggly cord running through the middle of the cubby, if you ask me.

Let me know if you're that interested.

Second time I've written that today. I'm going to go into business here.

Having successfully wasted a couple of hours of my life trying to get this to work I have given up. Followed instructions, tried everything i could think of, without any joy. Gerry

That does look like it yes Steve. Thanks for the offer, but I'll pass, i was hoping a simple plug in module existed, to take advantage of the existing holes etc

I know, the trouble is, these blackberry's work with the bluetooth side of the system, but then, after a time they suddenly stop working properly.

there is a phone cradle in these range rovers, but there is no update for it. if any fitters out there know how to upgrade this or do a custon job on it, i will be very grateful! thank you ds
