Yep, just found that out Big Cry

It's a straight forward swap of the units though, so I'll see if I can get a BMW one. Cancelled the disc purchase for now.

Noddy, keep me posted on that but i assume you will have to change the screen aswell as the box in the boot. I would prefer the newer dvd unit if not too expensive.

Guys upgrading from CD to DVD is just plug and play, there are 2 sellers on e-bay advertsing just now. What you are looking for is a BMW mkIV unit. A chap in Birmingham is doing them for £549 with the disc and a Range Rover splash screen. The other is in Romania for £399!!!!!!

Is it just the unit in the boot then, or do I have to replace the screen as well? I'm really up for this, but the price is a bit wooaa!

Whats £549 among friends , price of 3 tyres , Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Thumbs Up

But is the screen not fibre optic controlled if its a touchscreen version , save all the hassle think you can buy software to convert DVD to CD and vice versa.

Software out of PC WORLD is about £150 or there abouts

Guys, sorry if I've caused confusion. On the 2002-2004 models we have CD based BMW Mk III sat nav which is crap. You can easily upgrade to birds eye type sat nav by switching the CD drive in the boot for a BMW Mk IV sat nav which uses a DVD, nothing else is required except you will have a BMW logo on your display which can be changed with a firmware upload. As far as I can gather if you are running a 2005+ model with touch screen then it is DVD based Denso system which is connected by fibre optic cables.
