After last weeks mamoth radiator change got round to replacing the broken water pump pully and replacing both main and ancillery belts, transmission thermost that was weeping, fixed the rear wiper arm and water supply and I've just been refueled with bacon buttys and ribena and am now going to fit my new rear mudflaps. Ive taken a load of photo's as ive gone along, so once im home will upload them if anyone is interested to see whats gone right and wrong. So if the mudflaps go on eay it will be a good day in all!

Water pump pulley is made from bacolite so very brittle. Last week while trying to get the fan seporated from the water pump a little to much pressure put on the pulley and a big chunk missing for good effort!

Pic of pulley removed. I was lucky to have done most of the hard work last week when replacing the rad. Removed the main air inlet to give more space, along with the viscus fan and the fan surround. both belts removed. Transmission cooler can just be seen in the bottom left.

In this pic the transmission cooler can be seen, connected to the cooler plate (black bit) and the transmission thermostate connected to the plate with all the hoses. I had a small leek from the bottom hose, due to the plastic retaining clip being broken. Used some small "G" clamps wrapped in rag to clamp the hoses to allow me to change the stat out. easy job to do.

then moved onto the rear wiper. Mine was so corroded it would move and hardly touched the rear screen. it was that bad the plastic cover which holds the jets was solid and had to be cut off to gain access to the retaining nut.

once the wiper was off i realised i still had no water from the open end. suspected the NRV so removed the upper trim to expose the motor and NRV. The 3 bolts that hold the spoiler on can just be seen above the boot seal. undo these 3 and pull the spoiler to the rear of the car to release

the NRV can just be seen about 2'' from where it enters the wiper housing. Being a minge i decided to strip the NRV instead of of buying a new one. the NRV is very simple and has a rubber sleeve which creates the seal and prevents the water flowing back. mine was ok so just gave it a wash and blow and put it all back together. While it was off used the pump to flush the line an got some real crappy water out. All back together and fully washing and wiping rear end.

I haven't taken any pics of the old thermostat but if anyone is interested will take some. Also fitted my rear mud-flaps and that was a fidly job but turned out ok.

Had a big SBE while doing the belts as i forgot to draw/photograph the route the belts took!. Unfortunately an SOS to dan didn't help so google found a cracking little how to. its for an X5 but shows a lot of stuff applicable to the BMW M62 4.4 engine. www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/119957

Thats a nice little list of "to-Do's". You dont know my wife do you? lol.
Change coolant, rear wiper and gearbox oil are all nice jobs to do. Done all of them in the last few months. Whats up with the headlight wiper? if its in the up, or half way state its a simple fuse job! also had to do that within the last few weeks!

wiper sits ok but i did change the headlight when i first got the car so might of put it back on the spindle wrong, hit bumper and locked out. Ill remove it then pull fuse and refit...  2004 black Vogue TD6
