With mine's engine idling for only a couple of minutes after start-up, all 4 of the EGT sensors that you showed are showing 100 deg C, although IIRC mine without a DPF only has 2 EGT sensors. Perhaps that's the minimum value displayed and that once the engine warms the true values will be shown. However as I'm about to tackle the oil cooler oil leak I don't want to get the engine hot.

Last time that I checked mine still had the P040D-00(2F) DTC.

Just checked mine, same fault code and same 100 degree reading as yours.

Should probably add I thought I’d added a photo of the readings but my IT skills have failed me
I’ve had that fault code since I bought it 2 years ago and never had a DPF problem,
Perhaps I’ve just been lucky?

temperature on the bank 2 sensor 1 will go above 100 C only if the engine is spinning over 23~25 hundred rpm. in the pic. you can see temp. have gone up so the sensor is working. i have had it. go up ove 280C while the revs are kept up above 23 hundred rpm,s.

In that case that sensor must be the one in the exhaust pipe from the secondary turbo on the left side of the engine.

I wonder if bank1 is referring to the primary exhaust path and bank2 referring to the secondary exhaust path rather than cylinder banks.

Euro 4 only has temp sensor in left manifold and oxygen sensor after primary turbo - only measuring EGT in 1 manifold (no need to measure both). Bank1 sensor1?

Euro 5 has temp sensor in left manifold (bank1 sensor1?), oxygen then temp sensor between primary turbo and the cat (bank1 sensor2?) and another between the cat and the DPF (bank1 sensor3?) and another between the secondary turbo and the DPF (bank2 sensor1).

So Graeme this shows my 4 EGT readings.

There a 3 on Bank 1 and the one I question on Bank 2.

See this from when I regenerated my DPF:
Bank 1 Sensor 2 must be the DPF. Does this marry with your count of the sensors?

I need to get unplugging to find out for sure.
. Cheers, Greg

Nino I think you have disproved part of my theory probably then that sensor reads temp post turbo number two. Which makes sense baciase all readings i've taken are under 2k revs. Cheers, Greg
