Water in Fuel amber warning

Hi all been a few months
Can anyone help after a weekend at a very very wet festival
Got in today for the drive to work and had a water in fuel warning message

Only had 30 miles left in the tank so filled up, and warning light went away after about 15mins of driving.

Anyone had this before ?

Thanks Ryan

it may not actually be water in your fuel.

I washed my engine at the weekend and got this warning. I think it is simply water across the terminals of the sensor alters its resistance and gives the light. A few minutes of ticking over to dry out and it was fine.

Others have reported getting this if driving though big puddles, which supports this theory. Too many toys, not enough time
