Would an USB/Firewire adapter be of use?

I purchased a USB to FW4 adaptor cable which is simply a connector adaptor without any signal processing. I may also need a FW4 to FW6 or FW8 adaptor depending on what FW HDD enclosure I find at the right price.

I've just seen the latest freelander DVD sat nav disc 2017/2018 advertised on flea bay its says it's a denso operating system , do these work in the ffrr system I am pretty thick on this stuff so just a thought wouldn't be surprised if they did as freelanders are still in production but l322 aren't Thumbs Up

It really depends which model year the discs are for.
Sorry if you already read this but just to be clear, 2010 to 2012 cars have HDD based systems, not DVD based.

It is my understanding all the land rover systems are made by denso. All the DVD based systems use the same format discs, but not necessarily the same content on the discs, as the discs contain device specific config data. It is entirely possible a freelander screen is the same core part as the 322, but without physically checking, I don't know if it is.

It is likely that the disc for a freelander may work in a 322 that has DVD, but I haven't tried it.
Certainly, I see adverts suggesting the same disc works in freelander, sport and 322.

If they aren't the same, It is likely that having identified the differences, a disc could be produced with the latest maps that is suitable for the 322 DVD based cars.

I haven't had chance to check the HDD yet to see what format it is. Too many toys, not enough time

A quick update:
I have had a bit of a dig around on info for pre 2010 DVD based navs (a bit of a side track, but wanted to understand why the DVD discs are vehicle specific, and now know how they differ).
I got a bit carried away and wrote an application to interpret all the mapping files on the disc Rolling Eyes Yawn
I now know how to make a non L322 disc become L322 compatible. Or at least I think I do, as I've not actually tried a disc in a car. This is after all about diagnosis, not reproduction of discs Whistle

It appears the DVD disc for Disco3, Sport, and L322 are all common. Freelander 2 is a different disc.
The latest DVD I see advertised for both of these is for 2017/8.

Not sure if you have already bought a disc Henda, but if not I would suggest avoiding the freelander disc, especially since an L322 specific one is now available.
Obviously I've not tried one of these freelander discs in an L322, but I assume they wont work since the adverts say they wont.

If anyone is prepared to share a copy of their DVD disc with me to further my research, please send me a pm.

Its early days with analysing the HDD from the 2010 nav, I hope to get on with that again later.

I have also been working on the hardware, checking out components etc. It looks like the main nav mcu is a denso specific chip, so can't get any data on it.
I've not attempted to read the flash program memory from it yet. Too many toys, not enough time

Hi,
Slow progress I am afraid. Couldn't get anywhere with trying to read the cpu board memory. It might be possible but will destroy the pcb to do so.

Not having much luck reading the hard drive either. I've not given up on this, just not had time lately and not likely to get back onto it until mid November due to holidays and work. Too many toys, not enough time
