Steering Angle Sensor

Had a new one fitted in August 2015 and has failed 3 years and 15,000 miles later.

Expected it to last longer than that, or is that normal?? Big Cry Not Galway but Balmoral green actually

Well I paid for a genuine one to be supplied and fitted at the indy I use. Cost me £350, parts, labour and vat.

No reason to suspect skullduggery. Not Galway but Balmoral green actually

Failed after 15k, you must use your steering too much, you need to drive in a straight line more often. Whistle
Pretty bad that it failed so soon. Big Cry

Mine failed after 8k this year - also genuine! Just outside warranty. I found a guy that builds heavy duty slip rings. Tromp let his name is and just swapped that part out with his instructions so far so good. It isn’t a bad diy to do the sensor if you haven’t got massive hands... if you have it’s a terrible job Current stable:
2006 BMW M6
2007 4.2 V8 S/C FF
Gone:
2002 4.4 V8 FF

Will have a go at most jobs on the car but don't think my back would have been up to that particular one. Not Galway but Balmoral green actually

Hi buddy - do you have the details on them please?

Also if the SAS isn't communicating with OBD or resetting is this a sign of it being broken??

Hi the eBay seller was called matrom1 but doesn’t look like he has any worth a message though?
You will have your dash lit up like an Xmas tree and not be able to change suspension etc Current stable:

I reached out to Matrom1 and he said he has some sas but someone had a failure at 30k so he is redesigning them.

In. The mean time he has sent me an sas in probably the most delightful packaging I have ever seen!!

Yes they are great kits and very pressional - not far off Apple packaging. It looks a lot more heavy duty than the original. Are you going to fit it yourself? If so are you going to try the shortcut or are you going full dash out? Current stable:
2006 BMW M6
2007 4.2 V8 S/C FF
Gone:
2002 4.4 V8 FF
