United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black
2013/4 5.0SC, or 2016 TDV8

As per the title really! We are looking to change our 2011 TDV8, and budget for the replacement is around £55k. We live on the edge of London, car during the week is going to be mostly pottering locally (school run etc.), then longer runs out of town on the weekend. But we probably don't do more than 7000 miles per year. Whatever we buy, want to purchase at a main dealer, then keep it under extended warranty as long as we own it. So - options are an older 5.0SC, or the 4.4 TDV8, Euro 6 spec, and a much newer car. Any thoughts and tips welcome!

With “pottering locally” mileage and just 7,000 miles a year, why even consider an SDV8? You will be asking for DPF related problems.

With such a low annual mileage, the difference in fuel consumption is going to be marginal in the overall scheme of things.

+ another 1 - at 7k miles per annum definitely go petrol. Unless you do long journeys at reasonable speed you will definitely get DPF issues - We had exactly this with my wife’s at 5k miles per year, we ditched it for petrol - issues related to diluted engine oil and recurring DPF issues 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

I don’t believe that it’s s blanket “Get out of jail free” card if the DPF is being used for a purpose that it was never designed to cope with.
