United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Buckingham Blue
L322 3-Button Key

Hi All.

New to the forum. Pick my L322 up on Saturday so I'm getting ready to do a few jobs.
Its a 54/05 Vogue. The 3 button key is in need of repair, the buttons have worn through. I've purchased a replacement from ebay, hoping to swap the lid/buttons but its all one piece moulded to the key.
Any advise? Should I use the new one and get it cut, swapping the circuit and transponder?
Is there a way to swap just the blade?
Has anyone done the upgrade to flip key?

All advice and comments are welcomed and appreciated.

If the key with the round end then yes you will have to get the blade cut, then swap over the internals.

You can upgrade to the flip key, but you lose the boot button functionality (howto on forum somewhere - "daveo"), still need to get the blade cut though... .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

Been down this road - I had Timpsons cut the new blade, about a tenner for 2 from memory, then just swapped the internals over - you might as well replace the batteries while you are in there and be careful not to drop the tiny piece of triangular plastic that sits inside - took me hours to realise that it releases the steering lock, in fact I threw mine away initially thinking it was a piece of packing Rolling Eyes .

I bought this one

3 branches of Timpsons refused to cut the blank so I contacted the seller. He asked me to send it to him with the original key and he cut it and also swopped the transponder.

Bit of a faff reprogramming but after 3 attempts works fine. Had it since April this year and very happy. Not Galway but Balmoral green actually

Has anyone found an aftermarket 3 button key / fob which actually works?

Both my keys are a little tatty and I'd like to replace them but I ordered one off eBay and I found that the internals wouldn't sit flush so it wouldn't work.

If anyone could provide me with a link to one that works that would be good. I'm not after flip keys or anything fancy just new replacements for the originals.

I bought a couple of these:

They do the job.

The ones that I bought had little rubber "posts" sticking out from the underneath of each button - these actuate the switch contacts on the board - I had to trim a couple of them down as they were constantly pressing on the switch contacts - I used the old fashioned safety razor blade snapped in half to make a neat job.
