Tdv8 3.6 oil - full or semi synthetic?

Which do people use/recommend?

The Penrite guide tells me either is ok.

I’m in a subtropical environment if that’s relevant, and so use 5w40.

Thanks. ______________________________

I only ever use fully synthetic. Did the same with the D2 and the td6. The D2 was 5w40. John

Hey rar110

I’m using Nulon SYNFE 5w30

Meets the Ford oil spec (which I don’t recall at the moment)

Order it in at repco and buy when they have the sales on.

I found Penrite too confusing 2007 3.6 TDV8

Ta Steve

The tdv8!Oil spec is:

MCC913 B, WSS-M2C 934-B, 921-A

Both Penrite oils comply with this.

Is this the Nulon Oil you use?

I've been using it a couple of years now.

Tried Penrite (got annoyed with having to buy two 6 litre jugs) and at one stage Castrol (which was silly expensive). The Nulon was cheaper than everything else (at the time I was buying), so I thought I'd give it a go, as it met the oil spec'.

With fear of starting poo storm, so long as it meets the spec' in the owners manual "she'll be right".

Having said that, I do use MOS2 additive package from Liqui Moly with new oil and use Liqui Moly Detox when changing oil.

I don't lay claim to any conclusive engine longevity, but in my experience, the engine is benefitting. 2007 3.6 TDV8

gday Cheezels

LiquiMoly products were on special at SCA last weekend so I bought some diesel purge, oil flush and some MOS2 oil additive.

Ive used the Cost Effective Maintenance oil additive, but thought I would give the MOS2 a try also. Im doing a NT trip in June so some additional/different protection could be useful, particularly if an oil starved turbo situation arises. I use the CEM oil flush product, but will probably do an oil flush with the LiquiMoly product and an oil change before I leave.

Im also looking to use the diesel purge product, just need some more info on this first. ______________________________

Lol. I bought some during the sale as well.

Just done an oil flush with CEM this time and drained from both sump plugs.

The oil was very black, but the MOS2 is probably causing some of the discolouration.

I’m now using Fuch oil as I’m over Penrite confusion and Nulon availability is a bit hit and miss.

I can’t say for sure if flushing and adding MOS2 will help with longevity but I’m confident it’s not hurting anything, and the engine does feel a bit “perkier”

Haven’t used the liqui moly diesel flush, but still using CEM additive.

NT trip sounds great! 2007 3.6 TDV8

The CEM engine flush is good. The new oil stayed cleaner longer. I’m not sure about the CEM additive.

I should drop in one day as I have oversupply of CEM fuel treatment. Maybe on way to NT. ______________________________

That would be great to see you!

The CEM fuel additive does improve my “gas mileage”. Interestingly, I suggested my mate tried it as he was having issues with a couple of injectors in his Landcruiser. It has actually brought the injector balance back in line. 2007 3.6 TDV8

I bought the diesel pack. It came with a heap of FTC Decarboniser. ______________________________
