OY Registration cars

Chaps,

What is the latest advice on buying FFRRs with an "OY" registration - do I need to give a big miss?

Also, were all LRE cars white or could some have been a different colour?

Seen one that I like that's not white but on "OY". Trying to get more info on previous owners. MY11 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - "African Queen"

I think all OV & OY are factory registered.

Only the tiniest fraction go to LR Experience & they are white.

The car could have been used by royalty, a celebrity, the police, a JLR employee as their own car, a pool car, R&D etc etc Anyone that JLR would 'loan' a car to is potentially in scope.....

My previous black 2011 VSE was an OY registered car used by royal protection......allegedly it was used in a big wedding.

The garage refused to give me a discount, but the car was perfect, so I bought it anyway.

There was some evidence of the wiring having been tapped into, for extra lights or radio's, but otherwise all was good.

R&D and Engineering would be a VX plate and yes all recent LRE cars are white.

First letter O is a standard Oxford registration area and OV and OY are standard issue numbers. Statistically likely to have been an ex-JLR car, but equally could just have been registered new in the Oxford registration area by a first owner.

V is from the Worcester registration area (although the local DVLA offices have long gone but the principle still exists in the DVLA of a registration area) and VX is again a standard plate registration although seems much favoured by the R&D dept). Interesting fact is the V stands for Severn Valley (the area the Worcester office covered) Current Fleet:-

I wonder if Land Rover keep a register of all their Company registered cars showing their original allocation?

My first Range Rover was an ex Land Rover Company car.
At the time they were using lot of BKV numbers.
I was told my 2.5 VM Vogue was originally issued to one of the European Sales Directors based at Lode Lane, but I had no way of proving it, other than it was bought as LR used Approved.

That's a good point - I know that JLR auction some of their cars into their dealer network. However, there are others that are put through public auctions.

The L405 that I did my experience day in was for sale with Saxton 6 months or so later......http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic36323.html Shocked
