Title says it all really!

I bought my Range Rover in August, and haven't really driven it much at night until recently.

But now the nights are drawing in I realised what a fantastic machine it is for night driving!

I think the amount of eye fatigue you get is 50% less than in a "Normal" car due to not being at the same height as the lights of oncoming traffic.

The headlights and cornering lights are also great, and when you put the lights on main beam - wow!

Also the green instrument lighting and switches look really cool!

They may cost a lot to run, but things like this make it a very worthwhile experience.

I noticed the same thing when I got mine. It was particularly noticeable in the wet as you also get much less reflection of the other cars headlights back from the wet road.

As a slight aside, do others tend to get flashed at from time to time on unlit roads in the dark? My lights are not obviously badly adjusted and I was wondering if this is just a natural consequence of our headlights being much further above the the ground than normal cars or whether I need to tinker with the alignment. 2011 5.0 S/C

We dont get many kangaroos in lincolnshire. After the p38 headlights to which I fitted 50% brighter bulbs from Aldi or Lidl cant recall which now ( at £5 a pair far cheaper than I can get them at the factors) I found L322 hid headlights a bit poor but improved after changing to 6000k bulbs and plus 50% in the others.

I wouldn't tinker with headlight aim.......it's an MOT fail if they're wrong, so if you have a friendly garage with a beam setter, then it shouldn't cost much to have them set properly.

But I agree, the green glow from the instruments and the high driving position make it a lovely car to drive at night.......so much so, that I preferred driving from Reading to Aberdeen at night......of course lighter traffic helped too

A good friend drives a new RR sport and was getting flashed all the time , took the car back to the dealership and it transpired that one headlight was out of alignment. Worth checking.

Forget the Roos in Aus , i was chatting with an aussie recently and he told me there are 1 millon wild camels in Australia , i was amazed to find out it was true. 2015 4.4 AB

I just wanted to add that not only do I find the FFRR relaxing to drive at night but I find it immensely relaxing to drive any other time as well, even when stuck in rush hour traffic. I'm truly in my own little peaceful environment when I'm cruising along in it, without a care in the world!

I've adjusted the headlights on various cars numerous times, and none have failed the mot because of it.

My first RR came set too high. ... was getting flashed.
My freelander came set too high ... was getting flashed.
My '17 mini LED lights came set too high ... was getting flashed ....you get the picture.

I was also noticing that when following cars, my lights would crest up above the number plates and into the cabin of the car in front, blinding them in the mirror.

the head light adjusters are fairly obvious, and you can to it a quarter turn at a time so that you can record the original position if you want.

I do it in the dark, and park the car a distance behind another and adjust the beam downward to a more suitable level. Its easy to over-do the angle downwards and you'll notice it when out on the road ... you'll just not see far enough ahead ... so adjust it back up a bit. ( i always take the tool for adjusting out with me after doing the initial adjustment. )

As for the horizontal adjustment, I normally leave them alone unless you see that the 2 angled slope bits on the nearside are miles out from each other, and so I adjust them to match up towards the verge.

Even swapping bulbs can put the lights out slightly, so its not rocket science to bring them back into line. V8 or else ...

Was getting flashed in mine, so parked the Fattie and the Mrs 500x infront of the wall and adjusted the fattie to
Match as she has just passed an MoT. Interestingly mine were sitting about 3” higher so a quick spanner with an Allen key was all it needed. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
