CD Changer fault

My 2008 L322 Vogue has the 6 cd changer in the glove box. There's a problem with it and I was hoping there may be an obvious fix. I've searched but couldn't find anything.

It will load any disc from the cassette, and will start playing track 1 off the disc fine, but when it gets to 51 seconds, it stops. Always the same time on track 1. I can't move it past that point with the controls and cannot skip to track 2. It's almost as though the laser is stuck and it cannot move accross the disc.

Any ideas? I was thinking about taking it out of the glove box and opening it up.

I had a similar problem with my CD player since I bought the car about 7 years ago.

About 6 months ago I decided to take it apart and see what was going on. It turned out one of the tiny motors was weak and kept getting stuck. I tried some silicone grease for lubrication but that made no difference. I ended up sacrificing another broken CD player and swapped out the faulty motor.

It has been perfect ever since. Current:
- 2013 L405 4.4 TDV8 Vogue
Sold:
- 2004 L322 4.4 Vogue (BRC LPG)
- 2002 L322 4.4 HSE (having fixed timing chain guides)
- 2000 P38 4.6 Vogue (BRC LPG)
- 1981 2-door In-Vogue
- 1980 Ex-Army SIII LWB
- 1976 SIII LWB
- 1968 SIIA
Stripped for parts:
- 2003 L322 4.4 Vogue

Thanks Zebedee,

I'll take it out of the car and open it up for a look.
