Intercooler removal TDV8

Evening, does anyone have any information on removing the intercooler on my 3.6 tdv8. I’ve tried doing a search but can’t find much. I’m still chasing my boost issue and only have the intercooler left to replace/ check. So fingers crossed. Have found quite a lot of oil crud around it behind the grill. Would like to remove and replace it in the easiest way.

Thanks

Download the workshop manual (you can find it in the wiki). It'll be in there.

Yeah. I've done it.

Basically the whole radiator pack has to come out. It's very heavy and you'll need a second pair of hands unless you're a beefcake.

In short
Remove grill
Remove slam panel
Remove bumper
Remove headlamps
Remove air filter housing
Drain coolant
Remove coolant bottle
Drain AC (professionally to save the environment)
Remove shroud
Remove viscous fan
Release all wiring attached to rad pack
Remove all pipework, including air feed hose to RH turbo, clamping anything you dont want draining (steering etc)
Remove gearbox rad from bottom of radiator pack
Remove air deflectors either side of rad pack

Then finally lift the radiator pack vertically. Your helper may need to wiggle the bodywork a little. Mine was quick stuck on the rubber mounts which it sits in, but a good wiggle freed it.

Then, you can set about splitting the pack apart. Basically remove the plastic surround by removing all the screws and it will come apart. The AC rads are fragile, so be careful... __
