dynamic indicators

a while back i posted this thread re dynamic/sequential indicators on the audis and how i liked them...
http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/post451567.html#451567

it seems there are boxes available from china that can be wired up to normal indicators that allow this function..

so, does anyone know whether the rear led lights on the 2010-2012 FF's can be adapted ?

On the 322 the rear indicator only has one bulb, a standard tungsten filament......well mine is as I replaced one a few weeks ago.
As only one bulb there is nothing to “sequence”...... David

My bad......I thought all 322 had the single DI lamp, I guess if the LED pcb assembly can be physically rewired you might be able to sequence some how, but it’s only going to be limited to within the small round DI reflector, not sure it’ll be very visible as a sequential system as in the long thin type that Audi/BMW have. David

if you fast forward to 6.12 on this video you will see the 2010-2012 indicators in action...

i think the way to find if this mod is possible is to find/get a broken tail light to experiment on..

Was looking at those too - Stan I picked up a 2011 tail light with a broken lens from another member.

If you want we can use as a test unit.

I've taken it apart, the LEDs come out, they are on a plastic flexible track. Kinda like a flexible circuit board.

Sending 12v into the light (off the car, just a straight 12v feed) lights up the LED solid, no flash.
So the flash comes down the line, a normal set up in that respect.

. Cheers, Greg

i thought this would tickle your fancy greg Very Happy

so can the track be split into four bits so the light module could 'light' each in sequence...
the module in my previous post is a 3 way one but i have found a 4 way one on ebay...

Close up of the ribbon cable:

Looking at the back of the light. There would be seven steps in vertical lines/rows:

Same pic with the rows labelled:

Lifting up an LED, the two dots you see in previous pic are either side of a single LED:

Here: three LEDs then a single, the one I just lifted

Now a few with the light off:

The LED is tiny tiny, super flat. Is that called a COB? It's next to my finger.

Finger off and it springs back into place:

So I'm not sure best way you would break up / into the ribbon cable.

Part of me thinks easier to wire up new LEDs and hot gun glue them into their sockets. You could remove and retain the whole ribbon and keep aside untouched.

Also the lens is bonded onto the black rear shell. That has to be prised off to get in and would of course have to be re-sealed.

Might have to watch a few YouTubes to get a handle on how to approach this....

Don't know, what do we think?
. Cheers, Greg

When i made my last set of lights for my 322 i had to get two damaged lights and use the back of them then take two perfectly good lights and cut the back off slowly slowly slowly!!! Until i was left with four halves which i PU glued back together after assembling... Thumbs Up
