Well you are going to have to be less fussy about that from now on as the data protection changes bite. Apparently dealers are routinely chucking anything with previous owners details in the bin, and that includes invoices so all you are left with is one poxy, easy to mislay little book with some smudged stamps as "evidence"

I spoke to the previous owner of mine post-sale and there was a load of stuff which all went "missing" in the trip through the dealer.

As someone who prides himself in keeping sheafs of invoices going back to the dark ages this is most disconcerting, nothing says careful owner IMHO than a stuffed A4 ringbinder.

Its good to have goals but you might have to be a bit more open minded.

You may be right..

The shame about it is that it's totally unnecessary as GDPR doesn't apply a car or it's service history. The dealer only needs to redact the personal information from invoices/papaerwork.

It's also another reason I keep asking on here as believe I am going to have more luck with a private purchase than trying various dealers.

Yeah, 10 mins with a marker pen or an immediate chiuck in the bin, I know which they will choose.

Hopefully its just a passing kneejerk reaction to unfamilair new regs, because I can see "sorry mate, GDPR" becoming an excuse for massive gaps in service histories.

I paid £12,700.. It has 125,000 miles on it but interior/exterior great condition for age and fully documented history. Brand new Overfinch alloys and tyres on it as well.. Had to travel a bit, flight up to Edinburgh from Essex but great guy and very happy with the deal.
