Reversing Camera Upgrade

After reading a lot of topics about upgrading the reversing camera i decided to try it in my way.
I have a working camera, but as you guys know the image quality is bad, so i want to improve it.

I ordered some chinese cameras, power cables that fit the range rover 06 factory connectors and some
video cable that fits. Next thing, get a 3D scan from a factory camera. A friend has a faulty part that is removed
and organised to let it scan. Due the removing it got some scratches etc, that you see on the scan.

I want to print a 3D dummy of the existing camera so that it fits in the orginal braket, and then „work“ the chinese camera
by hand into the dummy so that it fits nice and looks good. (sry for my english)

due my lacking cad knowlegde, is someone interested to repair and provide the scanned camera so that i
can give the file someone for printing only? I will be happy to share the scan and help you guys to build
your own exchange camera if someone can prepare it for printing.

Thank you!

Clemenz - Hi !

What you're doing sounds like an interesting challenge !
However, it is a lot more work than the minor modifications required to fit 1 of the 10 Euro chinese cameras.
What extra benefit do you expect to get ? Paul,

I know, you have to source the right camera (check), get the parts for power connection (check) and to get the right video cable (pending but found). The benefit will be that you do not need to break your existing camera. i want to have an interchangeable camera. i can post some more details later at home (pictures, parts, etc.)

Ok, lets start with the information.

Power Connection (if you have the black connector).
You need a housing, the connectors and some cable.
Then you can crimp that stuff (i have not done it yet!).

Camera:

As you guys know NTSC without lines, with mirroring.
I found one on amazon, shipped from china. I made a test with the
original LR cables.

LR camera with brake light, reversing light etc at night:

China camera, with ambient light:

First print from 3D home printer, next step, sanding and painting. Then somehow move the electric into the plastic dummy!

Reversing Camera Replacement

I am in the process of replacing the LR reversing camera on my FF. Found this on the bay. Item number eBay Item No. 142942635174. If you remove the existing camera components from the housing this aftermarket camera is a snug direct fit into the original space. Obviously you need take it out of the rubber housing it comes in. Sorting the wiring out tomorrow ( hopefully).

I saw an article for a reversing camera that doesnt need wiring, it works off the bluetooth function on your phone.

Anyway I ordered,it came ,I installed and it works perfectly.

Its from a company called NONDA. (nonda.us)

Took 15 mins to install.

Has a recharchable battery in it.

I'm perfectly happy with it for the times I'll need it.

cheers

I bought a 2007 rangie last week with a non working camera, i popped the camera out, the fault was on the 4 pin connector inside the camera housing. I dremelled the connector off and soldered the 4 wires directly and all working fine. Quite an easy repair.
