Fuel gauge etc

So here's a thing:-

Jump in the car at 6pm on Friday to drive home from work -- getting it warm manage to drive about 2 miles and then notice distance to empty was showing 96 miles -- odd I thought -- I should have 250 ish -- drove home not too worried, maybe I'd done more miles since filling up!

Got home read the fuel gauge thread, and started thinking tank sender out etc -- the old girl didn't move till this morning.

Jump in, press the button, turn of engine click, Censored , battery drain -- ok I thought, probably just the glow plugs taking all the juice -- button again, turn, whirrrr, life Smile

Everything A OK, apart from gearbox fault showing, and still low fuel.

Started my drive, less than a mile and realise I don't have all the gears, hitting in excess of 2000 rpm and getting to 40mph.

Pull into a garage, switch off -- wait, then back on, off we go, all the gears are back -- and wait for it 234 miles of fuel left in the tank!

So, do I take the fuel senders out and do the wiring mod or not?

It’s free and it rules it out as a possible cause of this or future problems

Maybe a sender issue, may be low voltage related. How old is your battery? There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
