Has a spike in my voltage blown a Ecu somewhere (17volts)

Hello Lads
iv a problem with my 07 Vogue it a 3.6
Iv bring it to a few places now but they can’t seem to help.
It started one day while I was parked up ticking over
all my dash lights started flashing on and off and my radio was switching on and off also.
and at the same time when I put the car in gear it would start pulling away rapidly without me touching the Rev pedal.
and the same in reverse.
I took it to the first Mechamic and the told me that the aultaniter was putting out to much power overcharging.
So we changed it.
That sorted the flashing light on the dash and the electric problems.
but I’m still left with the gearbox problem.
It does run fine trough the gears after take off but continue to pull like mad when you stop at a red light and it puts the engine under a lot is strain
and you have to sit with your foot hard on the break to stop it pulling away.
Have you seen or heard of something like this before?

I was talking to a very helpful lad from Australia about this 20!min ago and the computer locked me out and I had to make a new user name and password sorry for the inconvenience

What does the engine speed do when you pull to a stop and put the gearbox in neutral with your foot on the brake ? Does it stay at idle or try to rev up. V8 or else ...

No mate it stays at Adle not a problem when in neutral.
Only when you put it in drive does the problem start

do you know whether all faults were cleared after the alternator change & then any new faults read?
Without access to a fault code reader, it won't be possible to make any good diagnosis. Paul,

Hello lads to anyone interested in the post
it was my Torque converter The bearing was Knackered apparently.
So £750 later we are back up and going.
thanks to anyone that responed.
and I hope this helps the next man with the symptoms that my one had.
after all his is what websites like this are all about info and other drivers experience
