TD6 servicing costs

Anyone had any recent experiences with TD6 servicing. I'm looking at one today that is due a service (89000miles) and wanted to know what my options were.

I saw RRUK's service guide which I would be more than happy doing, but it won't get me a stamp..

What is everyone paying for servicing - both main dealer and specialist/ local

Lastly, anyone know any good specialists in the Manchester area (i'm aware of Steve Parkers)

Thumbs Up My Previous RR's!

Hi Hoppy - Had mine serviced a couple of weeks ago by a good indy. £360 all in but nothing other than standard service parts needed.

Used to live "oop norf" and did get good service from "Land Ranger Services". 1 in Stockport and another somewhere else but can't remember where.

What did you exactly get for £360? seems exspensive if just an anual service.

I pay £370 for a full Inspection 2 at our local (Man Dealer Owned) Land Rover Independent with a MD Stamp.

This is exactly what i've been quoted from my indy aswel. What is included in inspection 2 over an inspection 1 service.

Not certain but I think they "Inspect" just about everything on the car and report anything that needs attention. In other words a Full Check over or Health Check Thumbs Up (Inspection 1 being similar but less items checked)

On the other hand the words "Inspection 2" mean thay can charge £100 more for same oil service Whistle

I'll dig out what I had done tonight when I get home. It was certainly complete inspection and report on items plus all oils and filters for standard service.

They also cleaned my rear washer jet (as I had no water coming out) and enabled TV in motion for me Smile

Will post full details later. Ash

I find that both inspections are an insult to any one with half an ounce of mechanical knowledge. Just my thoughts though. The MOT covers all the safety aspects and the rest you either know is busted... or don't need if you don't notice Thumbs Up

As for fluid and filter changes , yes of course they make sense and should be done. 2010 Disco XS TDV6, 2009 Freelander 2 GS

Ele,

Fully agree but to maintain the perfect history for resale value the "Inspections" are still a requirement even though they are massively overpriced Exclamation

Gaz, I agree in part.. but as the main agent service my car I still have a main agent dealer stamp, though the particualr inspection 1 may not be ticked... I think most buyers would see for themselves if body work was OK , paint, etc etc.

Are buyers really concerned at the level of service done.. or the fact it was serviced and relevant oils changed.. and more importantly some reassurance that the milage is correct.

I have a wad of reciepts for all my cars so fully agree that it does help on resale but I don't think the level of service would be a deal breaker. Smile 2010 Disco XS TDV6, 2009 Freelander 2 GS

You would be amazed that some buyers spend more time looking at service book for relevant inspections than looking at the car!

how true

but being 'in the trade' you know that what is SUPPOSED to be done is certainly not guaranteed to be done

my jeep mechanic (formerly main dealer senior technician) has told me enough horror stories about main dealers - he gets cars brought to him that have 'every stamp in the book' and he finds numerous faults/defects that should have been picked up

i'll certainly get him the service the RR ( he services several FFRR already) and he has an 'inside line' to a friend who works for a main dealer if he needs to know anything unusual

to me a good service 'relationship' is essential because its based on trust from both sides - as a total car numpty any unscrupulous garage could tell me my engine was Censored and needed replacing and have to take that at face value

so as long as the book is stamped i'm quite happy not to pay main dealer prices knowing that the job has been correctly done

i can't speak for RR but secondhand jeeps with independent specialist servicing history fetch a higher price apart from the folk GAz mentions who are main dealer stamp obsessed

Agree with all above.

I get mine serviced by an "Independent Land Rover Specialist" that is owned by a Main Dealer and gets a Land Rover Green Stamp so its best of both worlds (http://www.kllr.co.uk) Thumbs Up
