Tow bar

Can someone explain the differences between tow bars fitted to earlier and later models please?

I need a full system with a detachable element to fit my 2012 L322 and have been looking on eBay, however most seem to come from earlier models.

Help please!

If it is a westfalia one then the difference is the exhaust brackets on the early ones they are part of the tow bar armature, you could just trim them off although I suspect they wouldn’t get in the way if you left them on.

With your 2012, look at the strengtheners that are in place, you'll see an 'L' shaped bracket at the forward most fixing point that carries the exhaust.

You have to remove the strengtheners to fit the tow bar.

I bought an old tow bar with the fittings as described above -- took an angle grinder to remove the 'L' brackets from the strengtheners and then fitted old style bar with 'L' brackets, the old exhaust hanging plates don't get in the way of anything.

I'll have one for sale soon if that would help............. Current: 2011 FFRR Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8
