BMW V8 engine Tensioner and Belt Setup

Hi All,

Changed out my alternator and I've replaced the belt and in the process got a made squeaking tensioner and or idler pulley after doing everything back up.

I've purchased a new tensioner and idler pulley, but has anyone got any steps to ensure the tensioner sits in the right place as there is a small bit of wiggle room in its position prior to doing up the holding nuts.

Also can I confirm this is the right belt routing position for the new belt

Thanks in advance guys!

Chris

Looks like o forgot to set the tension using the 17mm nut ... Thanks to YouTube for that lol

I'd only tightened the two 13mm nuts apparently this is overlooked at times and causes squeaking etc.

Will try this in the morning and report back!

I was turning the 17mm tension bolt today to the right and couldn't understand why the belt didn't have sufficient tension Sad

Correct the way in which I was turning the wrench and now everything is buttoned up and no more squealing.

I've bought a new idler pulley as the washers are missing from mine and its making a slight grumbling noise whilst turning so its probably due a change
