Transmission Specialist NW

I am considering a gearbox oil change / flush, purely for preventative maintenance. (TD6, mileage 45k).

Does anyone have any experince with these guys http://www.transcentre.co.uk/ who seem to have a good reputation based on a quick Google. They have the 'dialysis'-type machine which allows a full flush as opposed to an oil change.

What do you think? Any other recommendations in the North West of England?

I will get in touch with them and report back. When I checked these guys out by Googling I found a couple of reports on Audi forums (S6/S8 owners) and they were charged between £230-£280 which was for 1-1.5hrs labour, filter + gasket and (lots of) transmission fluid.

It seems to me that very few companies have the equipment to do the flush...

An old thread I know but I've been following the various discussions on preventative maintenance on the auto box and decided to take the plunge on a full oil / filter change and flush as the cars done 75,000 miles. Spoke to my local main dealer who wasn't interested. Rules is rules and Landrover recommend at 100,000 miles. Spoke to a local independent who I've known for nearly 30 years and he recommended these guys. Booked in next Thursday - cost £ 300 + VAT including new sump pan & filter. They've also told me they might need to replace connector as this is a known source of leaks.

FF been done and the difference is amazing. The transmissions now whisper quiet and the changes are much slicker. Apparently the gearbox manufacturers recommend a change at 45,000 miles but for some reason Landrover say its not necessary. My oil was like tar & I was told if I'd left it to 100,000 miles I'd probably be looking at a new gearbox!

Mmm! Mines done about 57,000 miles. How long did you leave your vehicle with them? Previous cars:
S-Max 2007-2013 (only diesel I've had, good car but expensive when diesely bits go wrong, so what's the point?)
Galaxy 2001-2007
Mondeo Estate 1997-2001
Sierra Estate 1993-1997
Uno Turbo 1987 -1993
Fiesta 1984 - 1987
Fiat 127 1982 - 1984
