2008 L322 suspension fault

Hi Everyone Thumbs Up

I have searched the forum for this but seem cant seem to see anything related to my particular issue..

When i start the car i get suspension fault error on the dash. It has been happening every so often for the past month i would say.

If i turn off the ignition and then on again the fault clears and the suspension raises and levels itself. Except today i got it twice one after another Sad

The car is a 2008 L322 3.6 tdv8, i should also maybe mention that i lower it before i get out. Maybe i should stop doing this?

I have only owned the car for 4 months, but i do know the compressor for the suspension was changed for a new one last year.

Does anyone have any idea what it could be? just so i can point my mechanic in the right direction when he looks at it.

Thanks an advance Bow down

The suspension fault codes really need to be read before doing anything to avoid unnecessary expense investigating and replacing components.

But worth trying NOT lowering it, and see what happens. This may help with diagnosis. .

I will stop lowering it and see how i get on.

Will also look at getting it scanned to see if it has any specific codes in the memory.

Thank you both for the replies

I stopped lowering for a couple of days and still got the fault.

Last night it came up with a message about raising slowly and that it will resume once the system has cooled.

From this im assuming the compressor may be over heating. Which would indicate a leak somewhere.

I have not noticed the car has dropped on any of the corners, maybe the leak could be in the boot around the compressor.

You should check for any leaks, but more likely the compressor has had it, you will have to do a time vs money assessment. You should be able to find a "barebones" compressor, which will save some money, if you are comfortable with a bit of dismantling and simple wiring. I could be wrong.... .

I had a similar issue last year. A red dot over one of the wheels and slow compression. Then total suspension collapse where car was driving on its wheels. Called my specialist who said height sensor. Less than £200 later problem solved with replaced height sensor. Current:

Put the car into off road mode, if the car achieves that mode and you don't hear a big hissing sound (as you open the hole that's leaking, usually covered by the bag being partially rolled over) then look at the wiring to all the height sensors (clearly visible through the wheel arch on off road height) Don't be afraid to give each wire a little pull!!! I often find broken wires that are only held together by the sheathing, but the wire inside had fatigued and snapped! Thumbs Up

I have looked a little further into this and I have come to a possible conclusion as suggested that the compressor is at fault. Shame really as it was only bought in 2017.

The car comes up with a message now saying special programs turned off and I can't do any thing with the suspension.

Today I removed the cover to the compressor. If I start the car and quickly press to raise the suspension it expells some air from the exhaust valve, the compressor runs fun a couple of seconds and then cuts out with suspension fault on the dash.

I have attached a picture of the compressor, could somebody please tell me what version I have? I'm not sure if that is a Hitachi or Dunlop.

I have also attached a picture of the fault codes.

Thanks for all your advice Thumbs Up

Edit: Sorry could a mod please turn the pictures for me.
