ignition switch again

3.6 2007 TdV8. Just 14 months and 16,000 miles since I had the ignition switch replaced at an Indie LR specialist. Its a common fault with these apparently . Its now going again with a lot of key jiggling required to start . Had a spray of electrical contact cleaner in it but no help

Current quote inc vat is £575 due to 8 hours labour. Part is around £103. Any one ever tackled their own ? I know from past experience having seen a dash removed how big a job it is but wondered if any one had knowledge and experience of dash dismantling they could share.

If it was a Genuine part fitted 14 months ago that would be covered by warranty and I believe even the labour they can claim back from LR.

also not sure where they're getting 8 hours from, book time is only 2.3 Whistle You can paypal direct using - www.paypal.me/duckworthparts

Thats interesting... from their website

Another issue we are seeing more of in our workshop on the Range Rover L322 is failing ignition switches. If you are finding difficulty turning the key in the ignition then this is generally the reason. On earlier models where the barrel is situated next to the gearstick the task of replacing it is not too difficult but if it is found to the left of the steering wheel on the upper part of the dash then the whole dash has to be removed to gain access, unfortunately that takes around 8 hours.
Replace Ignition Switch on Gearstick Console (Genuine LR) – £275 inc. VAT
Replace Ignition Switch on Upper Dash (Genuine LR) – £575 inc VAT

Hi, I have the situation where my ignition is stuck on position II , I can pull the key out but the engine running. I wasn’t able to turn the engine off with the spare key either. I have 2007 tdv8 with key on dash, left of steering wheel.
