Hi,

I've got a CTEK charger which I use to keep the fatty topped up when not in regular use. (not parked in garage but outside) I want to fix the Ctek connector permanently to my fatty so that iI can just plug it in when needed and not have to lift the bonnet.

Has anyone found a simple location to connect a connector up permanently? I don't have a tow bar fitted.

I usually connect my Ctek via the tow bar charging socket, but for some unknown reason which I didn’t have time to investigate just before I came on holiday it stopped working.
I had a short lead with a Ctek socket on one end and 2 6mm eyelets on the other, so I fitted it to the rear fuse box supply cable.
Sorry in my rush I didn’t take any pictures, but I simply removed the nut from the 100 amp red power feed for the +ve eyelet and a very convenient 6mm bolt for the earth connection.
The lead was just long enough to feed through the lower tailgate seal and shut the tailgate again leaving me able to connect the Ctek and leave it sat on the rear bumper.

The cigar lighter in the boot is permanently live so it can be used with a C-Tek. You'll need the C-Tek lead that plugs into a cigar lighter and that connects to your C-Tek. I run the cable to the bottom right hand corner of the tailgate.

This set up has worked perfectly for me for 6 years and the car gets left for up to 5 months at a time. Always fires straught up on return. 2017 5.0 Autobiography Supercharged

Having sat and thought about my quick fix for 10 minutes...
I have misled you.

The short lead I described was just long enough for me to re-fit the cover, leaving the socket accessible from the load space.
I then plugged in a Ctek male- female extension lead I had and that then allowed me to close the lower tailgate and plug in the charger outside the car, but because it is in my garage I just left it sat on top of the rear bumper.

If some posts up a picture of the rear fuse box with the liner removed, I could probably point to the earth bolt.

A lead from the battery to the grill with an Anderson type socket could work for you. John

Actually the setup I have described would work equally well at the front.
With the eyelets connected to the battery , then the extension lead plugged in, it is plenty long enough to feed around the engine bay , and with a little bit of ingenuity, have the Ctek socket appearing at the front grille.
A neat solution that I can picture...
Remove the Land Rover badge and glue a Ctek plug to the rear of it.
Drill a hole in the grille large enough for the plug to pass through, fix the extension lead in place and plug in the badge.
Simply remove the badge when using the charger.

On the D3/4 I know people have routed them out the side vents ahead of the front door and very close to the battery. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

I’ve connected a lead directly to the battery and then just shut it under the back edge of the bonnet. The plug is normally tucked away invisibly under the trailing edge of the bonnet but easily accessible when I need to plug it in. I got the lead with the indicator light so I can easily check the battery status if it’s stood for a while. 2011 5.0 S/C

Wow! this has got the creative juices flowing ! I'll get a good look as soon as we get a dry period and I'll let you all know what I go with.

If you open the bonnet & look down the right hand side of the radiator, there looks enough room to drop a c-tek lead down & through a series of gaps/holes out into the fresh air.
With the waterproof cover you'll be fine. 2012 Orkney Grey Westminster 4.4TDV8 with Ivory interior.........nice!

Is opening the bonnet so much hassle

If you trust the connector to be waterproof, then just feed up & sit it bu the windscreen wipers.

I have mine at the front of the bonnet for easy access, but still need to open the bonnet.

I have an Anderson connector & CTEK
