Nice lighting feature?

Had an audi a6 recently and when you locked the car at night the driving lamps came on for a minute automatically. I'm aware that the q7 also did this and really liked it as a feature. I wonder if it would take much work to get this feature on a full fat?

They already have the light sensor fitted so surely can't be that hard? My Previous RR's!

Yes the FFRR has this feature already is a custom option that you can have turned on or off, i have it turned on, on my car its called headlight delay and it works if the lights are on when you turn the car off the car leaves the lights on for around a minute and the car displays head light delay on the dash. This option is also called follow me home, you can also specify the time the lights stay on for. If you have a fault mate you can turn it on yourself, i used my faultmate to enable the feature if not you will need to visit a dealer.

Hi mate, you need to get the follow me home feature turned on to allow the main headlights to say on when you turn the engine off and turn the light switch off. On the pre 05 vehicles auto lights is not installed.... BUT you can installed it, in fact i am in the process of installing at the moment - to enable auto lights on a pre 05 range rover you need to change the LCM (Light Check Module) on pre 05 vehicles you have LCM 3 installed this will not do auto lights but you can swap LCM 3 with LCM 4 which supports auto lights. Then you need to replace the main light switch (below drivers vent) to the later one which has the extra auto lights position on the dial, and finally you need to replace the rain sensor (behind the rear view mirror, its the blue thing you can see from the outside of the car at the top of the wind screen) with the later rain AND light sensor. All these items are a straight swap and use the same connecitons e.g. plug and play. The only thing you may need to do is have the LCM 4 re-programmed to the options that are on your car e.g. xenon lights etc... you can use the LCM 4 from a BMW X5 E39 instead of one from a range rover as they are the same units.

Hi Matt - On the LCM subject - I'm doing this upgrade to my 54 Vogue at the moment. Had a look at my LCM and it say on it YWC500280 - 4B. The LR dealer can't confirm that this is the auto version so how can I tell? Ash

Hi mate, its easy to tell because the label will read LCM IV w/ auto lights. If it reads LCM III then you have the LCM 3 and you need LCM 4 (LCM IV)

I get what your saying but..... Mine has the automatic headlights and I can make them come on by flashing once after the engines off.

It might sound anal but what I wanted was the driving lamps on both when I switch the ignition off and when I unlock the car, when it's dark. The driving lamps give a nice low spread of light that i'm after. Loved this feature on the Audi.

There must be a circuit that controls this because the puddle lamps in the mirrors activate at those very times. I'm not saying I could do it myself, just wondering whether it would be easy/ possible to set up. My Previous RR's!

again these are features that can be activated with a faultmate or a trip to a dealer.

Are rain sensitive wipers a standard feature on Vogues around 2003?

None of the ones I've seen had auto lights, but I didn't check re. wipers

Ps.... i can select this feature on my golf in a menu controlled by buttons on the steering wheel, i can even select how long for and have different settings for coming/leaving home. I'll miss german common sense when i finally get hold of a FF!

Yes all L322 Range Rovers have auto wipers. You wont miss it for long after you get your FFRR, although the L322 was actually designed by a german company BMW.
