Some of you may be aware that I have been looking to replace my beloved 2003 FFRR with a 2008MY TDV8 Vogue SE but have yet to find the right one

What I really want is a 2010MY TDV8 Vogue SE which is a big leap forward in "toys" and sadly price

Problem is I have found a 2010MY which is almost perfect in every way and will definately keep the "permagrin" for another 5 years Its also very good value but will obviously cost me quite a bit more each month than the "pre-approved" budget. Now we are not talking divorce or anything as serious as that but it will stretch things for a bit

So do I "live for today" and go for my dream car or hold out for the right 2008MY but with the possible regret every time I see a 2010MY

All sensible advice on both models greatfully received

I would also buy the car that has already depreciated loads.
However if you have the money and love the 2010 then I doubt you'll be disappointed if you get that one. FFRR TD6 HSE

Thank you to all that have taken the time to reply so far, it seems you are divided with your opinions I must admit it is a little disappointing that this thread has been viewed over 100 times but only 5 people have taken the time to press a button and vote It makes no real difference to me but I thought it might me fun to know

As for the divorce thing that really isn't an issue it was more of a "tongue in cheek" comment, I have the blessing of SWMBO and the decision is really up to me, and even the extra cost is really just a question of how you divide up the cake and then of course eat it

Now as for depreciation that is definately a "if you need to ask" case if ever there was one I am not aware anyone buys a FFRR as a sound financial investment which ever model or age you go for

Do fellow forum members who have had both actually think the new dash, nav system, LED lights etc of a 2010MY is a worthwhile step forward?

I will sleep on it over the weekend but I'm pretty certain I know which way I'll be going

Fox has hit the nail on the head,

if you want a 2010 or 2011, the sensible time to buy is not now, but in 12 or so months when the new model is launched - unless depreciation is no issue

Agree with above - hold off one more year and buy a 2010 when it's lost another 20%! 

when i buy a car, i choose the one that will put a smile on my face every time i just think of driving it, obviously within my price range

Ok so I've gone with the majority - well its the way I always intended to go

Like my last car I always intended to keep my next one for another 4-5 years so short term depreciation was never an issue, plus I consider the current model a massive step forward for me, in fact if a 2011MY was an option I am not sure I would want one as I like having a gear stick if only to caress and hold onto from time to time

New car looks fantastic.... Enjoy....
