Fuel jet pump… how does it work?

So a lot of you know this story long story short I was given a fuel pump low miles told the jet pump element had failed… fine

Anyway I needed to fit a fuel pump to prove a problem and I ended up leaving it in there. I think it’s working ok, I’m at 1/4 tank and the left side of the saddle is nearly empty but the right hand has filled nearly the entire well on that side.

Does this sound working? In my head it sucks it from left to right where the pump will then pump it all apparently most bmw work that way.

What do you all think? Current stable:

Sounds like it's working, it's basically a small pipe that pumped fuel is fed to the L/H side, this is pushed through a venturi into a much larger pipe, the whole thing is held at the bottom of the tank so that the fuel under pressure passes across a hole where the fuel in that side of the the tank can be drawn into the pipe and is pushed over to the other side. It's the same principle as used on a coolant vacuum filler where compressed air is used to create a vacuum by drawing the air out of the closed coolant system purely by flow across a 'T' piece.

It sounds more complicated than it is, but yours appears to be working - if you can read the individual sensor levels in the tank, that's a way of checking it without having to open up the tank

Yes, there's a small feed from the pump to the L/H of the saddle to push through the venturi to draw a larger amount over to the R/H of the saddle.
As I said, it sounds more complex than it is - try describing an Archimedes' screw to seeing one in action.

Here's the first relevant diagram I came across, the fuel pump in the R/H saddle provides the motive fluid.
