Off Road Day, Eastwell Manor, Kent

I have been to meet Colin and Simon at The 4X4 Solutions in Eastwell Manor nr Ashford Kent to see if they could pull together an event for us.
A bit of background, Eastwell Manor was the location for the Land Rover Experience centre in Kent until recently when it was merged with another centre and moved to Luton.
Simon and Colin were the lead instructors at LRE Kent and have negotiated with the land owner to use the same ground for 4x4 driving and training. This is not a bash’em pay and play site.
The area is quite extensive (approx 7 miles of tracks) with different areas and tracks that will suit all levels of experience.
The format for the event is for a maximum of 12 vehicles on the site. After a 30 minute briefing you will be driving round the large demonstration area in your own vehicles (humps, side slopes, steep inclines etc) with radio contact with a central instructor who will be hopping in and out of your vehicles providing instruction as and when is necessary.
After lunch we will be able to drive around the wooded areas and tracks deeper into the estate, again with instructors jumping in and out of the vehicles.
As this was a LRE centre the site is non damaging if driven correctly. The ground is quite flinty so there are possibilities of punctures etc (as always).
Cost for the event is £100 for the day, this includes the instruction throughout and donation to the site. Cost is per vehicle, so passengers welcome, although there will need to be a spare seat for the instructors to jump in and out. Dogs are not allowed.
No confirmed dates yet, would just like to gauge if there is interest in setting up an event and anyones thoughts on it.

I will be posting this on Disco3, Freel2, RRSport and Def2. I wanna live till I die, no more, no less

It's not cheap I'll agree. But costs aren't either when organising planned offroading on private land.
It's less than a tank of juice for a FFRR driver! Laughing

Too many FFRR drivers getting into big rims these days... Wink Rolling Eyes

I thought you Full Fat peeps were loaded, that's why we're charging you more......

Seriously though, we have 5 D3s, 2 RRSs and 3 Deafners interested so it can't be that expensive.

Please remember this isn't just an offroad day though, this includes training and guidance throughout the day as and when you require it from LRE trained guys that know your vehicles extremely well. Also, the setting is fantastic with hotel and spa on site so the ladies can do something whilst you're having fun in your vehicle and as stated above, private ground is not cheap for 4X4 use. I wanna live till I die, no more, no less

Potentially interested. When would I have to pay though? Skint this month due to school fees (ouch) Big Cry

But not too far from my brother's place so could be a nice day out, like you say send the girlies to the poof parlour while the boys have a play.

TIA

Hi Dom, not until we decide on a date and I don't expect it to be till June. Sign up, it doesn't commit you Thumbs Up

pretlove - Not much chance on getting the price down unfortunately, I have asked but they are unable to go any cheaper. I'm not making any money on this, just organising for Martin's sites as have had quite a few enquiries about off roading opportunities in the South East.
What you have to remember is that there will be qualified guys on hand to train/coach you through obstacles that you need assistance on. We also have exclusive use of an exclusive site that will be completely non damaging if driven correctly (except possibility of punctures). This isn't a £40 pay and play site where you can bash and crash 'em. I wanna live till I die, no more, no less

I am still waiting for some responses for the dates offered, but the most popular date is Monday 30th May. So far I have no FFRRs able to attend this day, it would be nice to have atleast one from each forum. If you would like to come along, please get in touch. If the day is a success, I will arrange another for later in the year, or may be early in 2012 Thumbs Up I wanna live till I die, no more, no less
