Buckingham Blue is back!

As you know, the 2011MY blue is Baltic Blue, but the stealer told me today that this has been dropped due to paint quality issues and LR are reverting back to Buckingham Blue for new vehicles. Great news I say. Current:2011 4.4TDV8 Vogue

It isn't dropped to paint quality issues it's dropped because the factory that makes the pigment for all the colours with dark fleck in them was destroyed in the Japanese earthquake so LR have nipped down to the bottom of the garden to the shed where they kept all the ends of run of the old colours and are using them again! Just hope they remember to shake the paint drums well after all this time that they have been sitting around. Some of the Jaguar colours are also being used for RR's - http://babyrr.com/forum/Thread-Issues-with-Paint-from-Japan If you follow the link it takes you to the Evoque forum where a copy of the letter from LR to the dealers was posted - some dealers are denying there is any problem with paint colours by the way. 2012MY RREvoque Dynamic Lux Plus Auto SD4 Coupe in Fuji White with full ebony interior

Doom Blue rides again then Sad

Even when clean and shiny it always looks flat as a pancake to me. No depth or warmth in the paint at all. I detailed a D3 in that colour a while back and it took the most effort for the least visible result.

Still, each to their own. My personal favourite on a FFRR is Rimini Red but you don't see too many of those. Can't be very popular. Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.

Bring back Monte Carlo Blue please LR!
What I find amazing in these days of risk analysis and hedging your bets, is that all the pigments for all the metallic auto paints for the entire world was made at one factory built on a tectonic plate edge in earthquake prone Japan, and nobody thought to have a "back-up" or second supplier based somewhere else 2012MY RREvoque Dynamic Lux Plus Auto SD4 Coupe in Fuji White with full ebony interior

Buckingham Blue is a very nice colour, but only when it's sparkling clean and shiny. My D3 is Buck Blue and I only got it because it looked so good in the showroom, so went and ordered one but it's a killer to keep clean. Never again would I buy a Black or Blue car. I also agree with Tim, we need Monte Carlo Blue back, see a fair few up here.

I'd much rather have Cairns Blue followed by Monte Carlo Blue. Buckingham looks too much like black IMO.
Shame as Baltic was a bit brighter than the usual boring Black.

Makes my car rare edition then if Baltic blue stopped. Love it! Rolling with laughter

Agree that it's quite a pain to keep clean but that's any dark car TBH. At least it's not black. Also RR is one of the few cars that can get away with being dirty as actually looks like it's been used. Very Happy

Not a fan myself. There's a Buckingham blue Rangie close by and every time I see it, it always looks 'murky', even when you can see it's just been cleaned.

It's too dark to be a blue IMHO. Researching my first Range Rover purchase

I also was never that impressed with Buckingham Blue, when I picked up my brand new RRS SC in 2005 BB had just come out and there was another brand new RRS in that colour next to mine, you could see loads of swirl marks in the paint and it just looked drab IMO. If it doesn't look good brand new, what hope is there?

I much preferred Adriatic Blue, when that was clean it looked awesome, but second the motion for a return to Monte Carlo Blue. Thumbs Up THE INVENTOR OF THE TERM "FULL-FAT RANGE ROVER" :

Paints now updated on rangerover.co.uk configurator. They haven't changed what the paint actually looks like on the car though so Buckingham Blue actually looks quite light...

Here's that brand new Buckingham blue Sport I saw the day I picked mine up, not exactly brilliant to look at in terms of the paint quality I thought.

It looks Black...but a dull black with no shine. Santorini would have been a much better choice...so many colours in that!!
