Squeaky wheel

I recently had the pads and discs done on the front of my FFRRSC.

Since then the drivers side wheel squeaks periodically. When it does so the squeak is "solved" by applying the brakes - even quite gently. My immediate thought was either wheel bearing or rubbing pad (although I am not quite clear why this would squeak). Any ideas chaps?

p.s. I have a sound file but have no idea how to post it.

+1 copper grease.

Also heard that if the springs holding the pads aren't right it can destabilise and cause a squeak.

IIRC. You can drift out the pins to get at the pads without much stress. Thumbs Up

So wheel off, remove callipers, bit of anti-squeal paste on the back and chuck it all back together?

On the Brembos you shouldn't have to remove the calliper, just use a 3/16" punch to drift the pins out and you should be able to wrangle the pads out the back of the calliper.

Once you get the wheel off all will be revealed.

Thanks for the help gents.

I just drifted the pins out. It "appeared" that there was already copper clip on the back of pads. Didn't know how much to put on so just smeared plenty around. Test drive revealed a solitary speak after coming to a stop and then setting off again. I am hoping that this was just them bedding in, and that the problem is solved.

Big Cry

Seemed to be fine. Then it returned. For no good reason.

It comes and goes but is very annoying.

Any other ideas?

Try my suggestion Smile All brakes squeal to some extent - the copper slip etc just takes it to a different frequency so we can't hear it .

It's not the brakes that are squealing when in use, although it seems to start after the brakes have been used if that makes sense.

Looks like the best option. It's just a pain in the rear as they are quite a long way from us.

It couldn't be a poorly adjusted e brake could it? Did he do the rears?

Can you trundle around slowly whilest someone listens to isolate it?

Are they genuine parts? It couldn't be just that the pads need to build up a decent friction 'coal' could it?
