'09 additional cup holder in center console?

Hi everyone,

One thing I miss in my '09 RR that I had in my '06 Honda Pilot is LOTS of cup holders. I like to keep a good supply of water on my trips.

Since I don't smoke I was thinking maybe I could modify the ash tray that's right in front of the center cubby top to a cup holder.

I've found two different parts at two very different prices.

There's this one that I can buy for under $50 here in the USA:
Land Rover FWU500011LYU

And this one that has the spring loaded cover that's nearly $350!
Land-Rover FJI500120PVA

Has anyone tried either of these in an '07 - '09 L322? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

They won’t fit... completely different console... I am in your boar and the compromise was buying the passenger end trim for a 02-05 model with the spring loaded cup holder.

Not fitted yet but sure it will be fine... Current stable:

I don't know about the less expensive one but I'm pretty sure the expensive one will fit since it's listed as a part for my RR. I'm just a bit too cheap to spend that much money for a cup holder Shocked.

Thanks!

Just looked at the pics it’s square and small maybe get an espresso cup in there lol. Look at the passenger side one the goes in the end trim for 02-05. Also don’t forget you have two in the back yours then have five in total... Current stable:

Yea, I didn't expect to fit a typical HUGE American drink in there! And the size does look small but I was hoping it could at least hold a bottle of water.

In the end, I may have to make my own solution! Hmmm. I wonder how much it would cost to buy a plastic injection molding machine and to make the molds Rolling with laughter.

Thanks!

Are you not even considering the passenger pop out holder from the early models?

You could design an insert for the armrest and get it 3D printed with two holders in it? Current stable:

Dan,

I've heard of the earlier model pop-up style but would it even fit in the spot where I have an ash tray? Has any one tried to retrofit the early style to my year of RR?

Thanks!

Ah, I see what you mean.

My '09 does not have the cutout for this on either side nor do I know if the structure behind is there to connect that nut and bolt.

On the drivers side (left side here in the USA) my headlight/fog light switches are in that location and it's blank on the passenger side.

I thought you were talking about this cup holder that I have heard about.

2010MY dash doesn't have that cutout, so it's not possible Smile

Have considered doing this myself actually. The top half of the cubby is a bit wasted as the space isn't wide enough for a modern mobile. I was thinking perhaps 3d print a new tray that fits an iPhone and then make the other bit big enough for something else, wallet or something.

Could also cable route up from the bottom bin so the phone could be charged in it.

I find the RR lacking in space for a credit card too - especially when you're doing a long EU motorway trip and need it for the tolls.

That's probably a better thing to 3d print for the old ashtray, nice little credit card holder!

Same as MY07 but I'm not saying just slide it in you can source the end trim piece on eBay wit the holder included for about£40 and just fit the holder and the trim piece... Current stable:

Ahhh, gotchya! I'd assumed they'd have removed it for a reason and it wouldn't fit at all, but I see what you mean Smile

Dan,

So you bought the end piece for the passenger side or passenger and drivers side? That slide-out cup holder appears to go right were we both have our headlight switch.

If this works, it could at least be a good solution for the passenger!

For me one small issue could be that I have the Autobiography trim so I would need to see if I can find an end cap with the matching wood finish.

Please keep us updated and pictures! Lots of pictures showing how you did it and how it turned out!

Thanks!

Mine is piano black ab trim which was t available in 05 but have a burr one I’m going to spray. Yes the cup holder is the same size as the headlight switch even same orientation so you could get a uk driver trim from a ab in theory and then side the holder in Current stable:
